Introducing Marginwake: A New Michigan Publisher

Updated: 3 hours ago
Marginwake is an independent publisher of adult fiction, drawn to books that leave you thinking long after the last page. The character you can't quite forgive. The decision you keep turning over. The ending that sends you back to the first chapter. Those are the conversations we want a book to start.
Every book starts with a person
Finishing a novel takes patience: revisiting an opening, untangling a scene, and deciding what belongs on the page. We respect the time and imagination behind that work.
Along my own writing journey, I've had hundreds of queries turned down. I know what it's like to put your work forward and receive a no. That experience is part of how I approach Marginwake, with respect for the writer on the other side of a submission.
Our relationship with authors starts with that respect. We want you to understand our approach, know what we're asking for, and feel comfortable asking questions. Clear expectations leave more room for the work that matters: the book itself.

Different routes, a shared love of fiction
Some writers are preparing to share their first manuscript. Others are finding a new direction for a book that has already been published. Both belong in the conversation. Previously published work can be considered when the necessary rights are available.
We want getting to know a publisher to feel approachable. Here, you'll find practical guidance for preparing your work and updates from Marginwake, with the details explained in plain language.
A clear place to start
If you're wondering whether your manuscript might fit, the guidelines are a useful next stop. They cover eligibility, the materials to prepare, and what to expect from the submission process.
Check the submission page for the current guidelines and intake status before sending a manuscript.
Sharing your work for review won't grant Marginwake publishing rights or guarantee publication. Any publishing arrangement would need a separate agreement. Please use the process on the submission page rather than sending a manuscript through another channel.
